At some point, we all feel it—a deep, unshakable longing for something more. It stirs in quiet moments, in unanswered prayers, in the dreams we once had but never saw fulfilled. Sometimes, we ignore it. Other times, we dismiss it as wishful thinking. But what if this longing isn’t meant to be pushed aside? What if it’s meant to lead us somewhere deeper—toward the life God has always intended for us?

“The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.” — Pope Benedict XVI

Unfulfilled Desires: An Invitation, Not a Roadblock

Many of us carry unmet desires, wounds from the past, or dreams that seem out of reach. It’s easy to believe that if something hasn’t worked out, it was never meant to be. But what if these longings point to something deeper—not just what we want, but what God is revealing about our true self?

Instead of asking, “Why hasn’t this happened?”, try asking:

• What does this longing say about who I am?

• Is there grief I need to acknowledge before I move forward?

• Have I placed obstacles between myself and the life God is calling me to?

We aren’t meant to bury our desires—we are meant to bring them to God.

“If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world on fire.” — St. Catherine of Siena

The World’s Voice vs. God’s Call

The world tells us to prove our worth, to chase success, to build a name for ourselves. But God’s call is different. It isn’t about striving—it’s about becoming.

Rather than forcing a path, ask:

• Am I seeking validation, or am I responding to God’s voice?

• Am I afraid to follow where He is leading?

• What would it look like to trust that God’s plans are greater than mine?

“Trust the past to God’s mercy, the present to His love, and the future to His providence.” — St. Augustine

What’s Holding You Back?

Fear? Doubt? Busyness? The belief that you are not enough or that you’ve already missed your chance? The truth is, no matter how far we’ve wandered, God still calls us by name.

Discerning your calling isn’t about knowing every step ahead—it’s about taking one step in trust. Even small movements toward God’s Will change everything.

“Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” — St. Francis of Assisi

Surrender & Freedom in God’s Will

We often resist surrender because we think it means losing control. But in Christ, surrender is the key to freedom. When we stop trying to force life to fit our expectations and instead let God lead, we don’t lose ourselves—we become fully alive.

So, what small step can you take today?

Prayer: Lord, show me what You created me for. Give me the courage to follow Your Will in my desires.
